Robert has remodeled homes of all ages and specializes in energy efficiency and preserving the architectural integrity of older homes through historic preservation. Robert has a Bachelors degree in history and drama from Principia College. When he is not remodeling and reading, Robert enjoys spending time with his wife, Ann, and his daughter, Cheris, and walking their dogs, Ollie and PauPaw.
Heartwood Construction is a proud member of Green Built Homes, and we strive to incorporate their green building practices on every remodel. We are continuously learning more about green building and applying new principles and products with every opportunity. Nationally, home remodeling creates 136 million tons of waste a year - about 20% of the total landfill waste in America. The fact is, 85% to 90% of remodeling waste is recyclable. Materials like clean lumber; drywall, cardboard, metals, plastic; some cabinets; doors and windows; carpet; sinks, tubs and toilets; concrete, bricks and asphalt and asphalt shingles - all can be recycled.
Below is our remodeling process for jobs that require a plan and will take more than three weeks to complete. For smaller jobs that don't require a plan, we skip the Design and Budget Contract and, after we listen to what you want, we'll provide you with a fixed-price Construction Contract. If you're remodeling to update your home or create and exciting new living environment - whether it's a single room or a bottom-up renovation - we'll make your dream a reality. If you're planning a historic restoration or an addition to an older home, we're experts at matching architectural details.
