His family owned and operated a large cattle ranch (L-Seven Ranch Inc.) where he and his brother Mitch worked lambing, calving and row crop farming through out the year. Roy first got involved in the building trade in 1982, at which time he did post frame construction work for farmers and ranchers. Roy completed a two year building trade program in Helena Montana, graduating in 1984. He moved to Bothell, Washington in 1992 and began L-Seven Construction.
