In 1965, Alan Grinsfelder left an established career with a Fort Wayne architectural firm to accept a full time faculty position in the Architectural Technology Program at the new Indiana University - Purdue University Fort Wayne regional campus.
At the same time, he opened his own architectural practice and, in 1968, Grinsfelder Associates Architects made its home in the historic West Central neighborhood of downtown Fort Wayne.
