The 1500 sq/ft basement conversion in this home included 5 closets, 1 bedroom, full bath, kids playroom, entertainment area, and bar. Six weeks from start to finish we included an open stairway with custom handrail as well as a custom kids toy box. The Berber carpet and designer colors make this space as cozy as can be.
This dramatic transformation was a lot of work in a little space. The original construction was excellent and the kitchen didn't want to be disassembled. It was the most well constructed and difficult to demolish kitchen we have ever done. Eventually the kitchen acquiesced to our encouragement tools and the new kitchen rose from the ashes. The collaborative design on the layout was my first with the customer's designer and our combined input allowed for a better finished product. The large island slab of granite and custom maple cabinets were perfectly accented by the wall color which nicely integrated the veining in the granite and the red oak floor.
These pictures are from Peter Stanchfield's Major renovation. We completely removed his existing kitchen, front foyer, 1st floor bath and redesigned the layout. We removed all the floor coverings and installed new hardwood flooring throughout the entire first floor. We relocated the kitchen from an area partitioned off from the living room into what was the family room. We enlarged the kitchen space from 8'x12' to 15'x20'. Not shown here are three bathrooms and the front foyer which also underwent dramatic transformations.
Talk about kitchen envy, this project was extensive. This two car garage conversion into a kitchen is, to this day, my proudest job. The pictures do not truly capture the essence of this work. We extended the front of the old garage out 4 feet and framed up off the garage floor 18 inches and even raised the ceiling to create a 17'x24' gourmet, eat-in kitchen with farm sink, high-end appliances & gas fireplace. We relocated the 1/2 bath. We enlarged the dining room from 12'x14' to 12'x26'. The black granite island has a 12 overhang for stools and the island bar sink makes clean-up easy.
