Many sites we maintain include lakes, ponds, and water features which also require maintenance. We are licensed and experienced in the control of aquatic weeds through a variety of natural and chemical methods. If you have an aquatic lake, pond, or water feature, we are the most experienced local contractor in aquatic management. We have developed expertise in evaluating and enhancing aquatic environments to improve the biology and reduce aquatic weeds naturally. We install aeration and fountains, treat with beneficial bacteria and plant shoreline aquatic plants to provide a favorable environment for healthy water and suppression of aquatic weeds.

Traditional buildings capture rain from the roof and direct it immediately into the storm drain system and eventually local streams. As development becomes more and more dense, our streams have been seriously impacted by this increased flow, as well as adding minerals and other pollutants. This has had a detrimental effect on the environment and wildlife. Bioswales have been required for many developments over the past decade but many have failed or are unattractive due to their design. The combination of parking lot and roof runoffs also complicate their effectiveness.

Water costs are skyrocketing in the Portland/Vancouver metropolitan area, making water conservation an important piece of managing a commercial property. In addition to Weather Based Irrigation Control, we are finding that many water conservation projects have a good return on investment, which is always important to property owners, investors, and managers. We have developed a Water Conservation evaluation process to develop a document we present to our clients with a detailed evaluation with recommendations to reduce water use through system upgrades as well as site landscape modifications.

Our highly trained, experienced, and motivated team hold many industry certifications including Certified Landscape Professional, Certified Pesticide Applicator, Certified Water Auditor and Manager, and Certified Arborist. Lawn is the biggest user of irrigation in commercial landscapes. Along with that, many lawns are poorly configured for efficient irrigation and maintenance and/or become difficult to irrigate over time as the landscape changes. Due to this, some portions of the landscape where lawn is may be better served with different groundcover. This could include ecological lawn, groundcover, and possibly rock or synthetic turf. We are pioneering lawn conversion techniques and options for northwest landscapes.

Retail centers is another area we specialize in; servicing many of the retail focused property management companies in the Portland/Vancouver Metropolitan area. Curb appeal is critical for retail centers and our services are designed to help these clients attract retail customers to their stores.

Not an incredibly common element, but one that we have been involved with on the small and large scale. These can be very intense but also fun and rewarding work to build or repair a man-made water feature.

Portland is one of the leaders in numbers of green roofs and Pacific Landscape Management has developed expertise in installing and maintaining this new technology. Although Green Roofs have many benefits, they do require monitoring and maintenance. Due to our dry summers, irrigation is required for establishment and ongoing to maintain a roofs health. As with many other landscape elements, maintenance is necessary to ensure the desired plant palate survives. Many of the Green Roofs that we have seen have failed due to the lack of understanding of these maintenance needs.

Our approach to design is to incorporate a multidisciplinary approach in order to solve maintenance and design problems for our clients. Before any creative solution can be proposed, we adhere to the belief we must first actively listen to our client's concerns. Identifying the problem correctly allows us to develop creative solutions that incorporate horticulture, micro-urban hydrology, soil science, and modern design that reflects our Pacific Northwest environment. The use of native plants and trees that thrive in our region as well as selections of ornamental shrubs provides a wide array of colors, textures, and fragrances that results in a creative aesthetic for our clients and the properties that we provide award winning landscape management.

In addition to the maintenance services we provide, we do a significant amount of landscape renovation and enhancement work. Occasionally, these projects are quite large and make a significant impact. Even with proper care, a landscape can become dated and tired. Working with property managers and owners, we have designed and installed many renovation projects around monument signs, building entries, and other highly visible locations. The resulting impact has been significant and helped many properties look fresh and new again.
