East Muskegon Roofing and Sheet Metal is now Certified Sheet Metal and Certified Building Solutions. We have been active in the commercial and industrial roofing and sheet metal business for over 60 years. East Muskegon Roofing, Siding and Insulating Company was purchased by Joseph H. and Donna Smith in 1950. Mr. Smith operated the company as a sole owner on a part time basis while still employed at Continental Motors Corporation. When volume was sufficient to merit a full time job, Mr. Smith left his employment at Continental Motors to operate the business on a full time basis.

Asphalt Built-up Roofing can be used in both new construction and existing buildings. This system gets the name "built-up" because of the multiple layers of alternating asphalt and saturated felts or fiberglass mat roofing plies. These systems can be long lasting and durable when properly installed with quality bitumen, felts and flashings. Surfaces (gravel, coatings, or granules) extend the life of a BUR roof by providing weatherproofing and protection from UV exposure. BUR systems have low flexibility and therefore are only appropriate on roof decks with minimal movement.

Certified Sheet Metal provides full service field installation of fabrications it produces. We also install equipment, fixtures, machinery, fabrications, etc. that our customers purchase. Our experienced mechanics perform a wide variety of maintenance work on customer's production systems and facilities. Certified Sheet Metal has a large fleet of trucks and trailers to transport our personnel and fabrications to our customer's facilities or job site. Our crews are able to rig, lift and hoist fabrications and equipment with our extensive line of boom lifts and lift trucks.

Certified Sheet Metal has a long history of fabricating and installing HVAC components and complete HVAC systems. Our extensive line of fabricating equipment, coupled with our skilled workforce, allows us to craft all types and sizes of ductwork, plenums, fittings and accessories for HVAC systems. We are capable of producing ductwork out of galvanized steel, stainless steel and aluminum. Our Project Managers have numerous lines of quality exhaust fans, blowers, unit heaters, condensing units, make up air units and packaged roof top units to offer customers.

Certified Sheet Metal has two state of the art machines that allows us to tackle the toughest metal cutting jobs. Both of these cutters are key components of our fabrication process and allow Certified Sheet Metal to complete the most demanding and intricate fabrication projects. At our Walker facility, the Koike Aronson Plate Pro Extreme Plasma Cutting Table is a high tech plasma cutting system equipped with a 260 amp Hypertherm HPR 260 power unit. This high definition power unit allows us to burn through 2-1/2" thick mild steel and 2" thick stainless steel.

Our highly skilled tradesmen produce custom fabrications of all types with a variety of materials. From field measuring to CAD layout, forming, welding and finishing, Certified's versatile fabricators are capable of meeting a customer's needs.
