Some green roof suppliers will suggest that 1 or 2 months between maintenance visits is reasonable. With commonly invasive weeds, this period is too long to prevent them from reproducing by flowering and setting seed. One weed may in turn into dozens between visits. And, if these dozens had the opportunity to reproduce, they become hundreds, which in turn can become thousands. Different climates and different vegetation types call for different care protocols. Extension of the lifetime of the roof; typical estimates are that a green roof potentially extends the lifetime of a roof between 200 and 300 percent, by protecting the rooftop from ultraviolet radiation, large temperature fluctuations, drying winds, and punctures. Some green roof companies also tout having a horticulturist on staff, but we have dozens, in different climates, most with decades experience growing plants for and in that local environment.

LiveRoof projects are installed only by LiveRoof Certified Installers that have been trained by LiveRoof representatives in the proper method of installing LiveRoof systems. These are typically professional roofing contractors and landscape contractors. Walking, starting and stopping, and having too large of a team increases the number of man-hours required to complete installations.
