I give Pools by Designs four out of five stars. There are two reasons for the missing star. One, my project took a full month longer than the estimate I was given. Trying to plan my time off work around the usability of my pool, I consulted with them midway through the project to make sure I scheduled myself off work at the right time. Still, the completion date missed the mark miserably and the pool wasn't ready in time for my vacation. Second reason for the missing star, is the lack of communication. With the constant delays, I was left wondering (day after day) on multiple occasions why no one was showing up to work on my project. I repeatedly had to contact them to find out what was the problem and it often took repeated attempts before I received a response. With a review like this, you might be wondering why my star rating is as high as it is. Here's why. 1) I am extremely happy with my pool.
Not a single complaint with the finished product. 2) There was a major miscommunication issue early on in the process of my project but everything was resolved to my satisfaction - so much so that I liked the resolution better than the original plan. 3) Both Mike and Nolan are two of the nicest, honest gentlemen you'll ever meet and this alone carries a lot of weight with me. I felt that I could trust Nolan's reasons for the delays and that he wasn't just making up excuses. He also owned up to needing to improve in the area of communication and has plans to improve that process. This shows a level of maturity and integrity that can't be valued. As long as you can plan your pool project with plenty of time to spare, I would highly recommend Pools by Design for a job well done and a team you can trust!

Just wanted to let everyone know that we recently had a pool built in our backyard and it turned out even better than I expected. The entire process from start to finish took about 9 weeks, with very minimal mess. I told Pools By Design what I wanted and what my budget was, and they did exactly what I asked for. Let me preface by saying I have never build a pool nor have I ever owned one. I came into this process needing a professional to lead the process and teach me about the decisions needed to make. Nolan Hearn and Michael Castro did so with patience and professionalism.
I first met Nolan in June 2019 in hopes to build a pool, along with purchase a house, at the same time. For reasons out of my control, we could not do both. We purchased the house and let Nolan know we would be in touch. 6 months later, it was time. Nolan made time to come out and go over the many details we planned previously and let my wife and I re-ask all of the questions Nolan had already answered.
Pools by design was one of three companies we interviewed before making such a big decision. Nolan beat the competition in all categories by far. He made us feel like we were the most important people he had seen all day. Michael either always kept me posted on progress or answered a text when I requested an update. In 2020, that's better than I can say about many professionals I have worked with.
Throughout the process, my wife and I made at least a dozen changes or upgrades. Nolan and Michael always accommodated; especially during times when their team was waiting on us to make a decision.
Lastly, at a more stressful moment, when something, rather big, was not completed to our standard, Pools by Design stepped in and made sure to make it right, no questions asked.
As you are making your decision on who you plan to work for you; whether a new pool build or renovation, take into consideration how the person makes you feel. Not the quick schedule they promise, or any other factor. Nolan and Michael gave us the pool and backyard of our dreams.

I absolutely adore the pool built by Pools By Design. Not only did I get everything I wanted, but it also came at a significantly lower cost compared to other options. They delivered the pool on schedule, and even after three years, it still looks fantastic. I wholeheartedly recommend Pools By Design to anyone in need of a top-notch pool construction company.
