SunBug Solar creates positive environmental and social impact by exemplifying our core values of responsiveness, resourcefulness, and reliability with our customers, within our industry, and among our teammates. Founded in 2009 and a Certified B Corporation since 2018, SunBug has installed over a thousand solar systems across Massachusetts, from Great Barrington to Cape Cod. We design and build all types of solar systems, ranging in size from 1kW to over 1MW, including residential, commercial, carports, and ground-mounts.
Their robust equipment, components, and materials are designed for daily use, and are engineered to withstand the extremes of New England weather for decades to come. As with any technological product, however, various issues may arise from time to time. That's why SunBug maintains a full-time customer service team to ensure that disruptions to your solar system are both infrequent and of short duration. SunBug recognizes that time is money when it comes to reaping the benefits of your solar investment.
When your solar design is finalized and you're ready to proceed, we will pursue and obtain all appropriate permits, including environmental approvals and permission from the local utility to interconnect your solar system to the electric grid. It's important to note that permitting and approvals often take considerably more time than does building the actual array. Once the project is permitted, we will procure all necessary materials and components - including modules, inverters, and racking - and commence system construction, keeping you fully informed along the way.
Our well-honed customer-centric focus, combined with the highest quality installations are the foundation for our reputation as the highest quality integrator in Eastern Massachusetts. This commitment to the customer is recognized by independent industry watchers like Yelp, the BBB, and Angie's List, who has awarded SunBug their coveted "Super Service Award" six years running, the only Massachusetts-based solar company to garner that distinction. From day one, our business model has been keenly focused on community.
SunBug's customer service team delivers a variety of corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance, and specialty solar-related services for residences, nonprofit organizations, houses of worship, and businesses across Massachusetts. The primary focus of our certified licensed service electricians is on the care and well-being of SunBug's own installed customer base of solar PV energy systems, but increasingly we're called upon to support the service needs of installations performed by other solar companies who are either out of business, no longer operating within Massachusetts, or who are otherwise unavailable to fulfill the solar service needs of their customers.
Dedicated to the mission of offsetting carbon emissions and giving customers agency over their energy production, Amicus members are mission-driven, vision-aligned businesses, working to bring the solar revolution to energy consumers across the nation. This invitation-only cooperative organization allows best-in-class solar installers to pool their purchasing power and share best practices. Forty percent of Amicus members, including SunBug, are B Corporations. Similar to Patagonia, one of the founders of the B-Corp movement, these Amicus members are a special kind of company, with a legal commitment to people, planet, profit that is verified by an outside audit.
We know the most successful organizations are those with the strongest customer base, and we excel at understanding the nuances of each of our customers. Responsiveness is the practical application of an organization's knowledge and experience in a respectful and timely fashion. SunBug has an extensive track record of delivering solar energy solutions to residences, commercial businesses, landowners, and non-profit organizations across the state. We've done so by meeting the individual needs and requirements of each of our clients, rather than trying to impose off-the-shelf, cookie-cutter packages upon our clients in a generic fashion, as some solar installers are known to do.
Amicus Solar Cooperative was founded in 2011 with the mission of supporting independent solar energy businesses working to create a market solution to climate change. This innovative member-owned collaborative is comprised of quality solar installation companies who benefit from collaboration by reduced customer acquisition costs, streamlined project financing, and drastically improved operational efficiencies. SunBug is a member of an Elite Network of contractors selected to provide Pearl Certification on solar systems.
New England's climate can be tough at times, but there is plenty of sunlight to support solar energy. In fact, cooler Northeast temperatures make solar electric cells work more efficiently. Much more important than sunlight intensity are programs to make solar cost effective, which is why cool and cloudy Germany is actually the global leader in solar generated electricity. The ideal roof slopes towards the south, since southern exposure will maximize the efficiency of your panels. But even if your roof is east or west facing, you can still get strong results.
