We set up nest in 2000 with the ambition to break new ground in solid timber furniture design. And, despite the painstaking craft involved, we seek to build furniture which, when finished, looks effortless. We started out in Cork and have been lucky to have had the help, enthusiasm and friendship of some extremely talented Irish makers but in the autumn of 2008, we moved with our two girls from Ireland to le Gers in South West France. Our workshop is now housed in the barn of a 12th century farmhouse surrounded by walnut groves - a reminder that it is an honour to work in a material which has taken decades, or even hundreds, of years to grow.
