El Dorado Irrigation District is an irrigation special district (California Special Districts Association Mapping Project) organized and existing under the California Irrigation District Law (Water Code §20500, et seq.) and authorizing statutes (Water Code §22975, et seq.). The District serves more than 125,000 residents in northern California's El Dorado County. A scenic drive along Highway 50, heading east from the Sacramento County line to South Lake Tahoe, takes you through the heart of EID's service area and gives you an overview of the extraordinary geographic diversity of the region.
The Water Quality Report is an annual summary of the results of ongoing tests for contaminants in drinking water. The report is designed to inform you of the quality of your drinking water. Each year, the State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board) and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) require EID to compile and distribute a report to all of our water customers. The report includes a comparison of the District's water quality to state and federal standards. EID maintains three water systems.
The El Dorado Irrigation District Board of Directors normally meets the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Regular meetings begin at 9:00 a.m. in the District's main headquarters building located at 2890 Mosquito Road, Placerville. Agendas and board information packets (containing agenda item summaries and staff reports) are available 72 hours prior to a regular board meeting. If you have any questions, please contact the clerk to the board at 530-642-4055.
The District offers several programs and services to City of Placerville and EID customers to help conserve and achieve higher water efficiency in your home or business. These programs include rebates through agency partners and are available at a first-come first-served basis. Request a Home Water Survey, including irrigation system, plumbing retrofits, and leak detection. City of Placerville and EID customers can apply for a rebate towards qualifying purchases of water efficient items. Rebates are granted for qualified purchases in order received until funds are exhausted.
The general manager is appointed by EID's board of directors. The district's six functional departments report to General Manager Jim Abercrombie, who provides direction and guidance for senior managers. Abercrombie has more than 40 years of utility management experience, including 11 years as Amador Water Agency's general manager and 20 years at Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E). Prior to joining EID, he served as PG&E's El Dorado County district manager, from 1987 to 1998. A registered civil engineer, he earned an engineering degree from Santa Clara University and a master's degree in business administration from Santa Clara University's Leavey School of Business.
