For homes or businesses that have been unoccupied for a length of time where water has not been used, it is good practice to flush your water lines before use to remove any stagnant water. It is also a good idea to drain your hot water heater tank using the spigot at the bottom of the tank to remove any. There's a new instant rebate program available from San Juan Water District and other local water providers. Now you can get the Rachio 3 Smart Sprinkler Controller for $75 plus tax (65 percent off the retail cost).
San Juan Water District is a community services district established by a vote of the citizens in 1954, formed under Section 61000 et seq., Title 6, Division 3 of the California Government Code Water Code, Section 3000. We provide reliable, high-quality water service to both retail and wholesale customers in eastern Sacramento and southern Placer counties. San Juan's roots date back to the Gold Rush era with the formation in 1854 of the original entity, North Fork American River and Mining Company, later known as the North Fork Ditch Company.
San Juan Water District is working on several capital improvement projects to meet state and federal regulations, add system resiliency, and improve service. These projects include a variety of infrastructure repairs and new construction projects which are described in our Capital Improvement Plan. These projects are typically funded by water rates paid by customers throughout our Wholesale and Retail service areas, property taxes and state and federal grants. SJWD personnel are constantly looking for ways to reduce cost and maintain quality service, including with our CIP program.
To check for a leak, turn off all water-using devices inside and outside your home. Lift the small metal lid on top of your meter box. There is a leak-detecting dial on the face of your meter with a pointer inside it. If the pointer is moving, even slightly, and you do not have any water running, you could have a leak. For help locating a water leak, call us at (916) 791-2663 for a landscape irrigation review. We'll check your indoor and outdoor plumbing for potential leaks and provide suggestions for fixing them.
