Bob Darnall started his own sprinkler business in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho in 1975. Eight years later he established Alpine Sprinklers in Wenatchee, Washington. With only a pick and shovel, he began working alone, installing residential sprinkler systems. His number-one priority was to deliver professional sprinkler systems. He would cut out strips of sod, dig narrow ditches, install pipe and sprinkler heads, rake the dirt back, put the sod back, and level it with the lawn. Customers were impressed at the even coverage, head to head overlap design, and minimal damage done to the yard.
