We hope you'll never need emergency tree services, but that's why we're here - 24 hours a day. Around St. Louis we say, "If you don't like the weather, stick around an hour - it'll change." The St. Louis area is famous for tornadoes, thunderstorms, snow, ice, wind or rain that can last for days. These conditions wreak havoc on trees and often tax emergency services to the limit. Some emergencies require immediate attention: dangerous fallen trees; storm damage; lightening strikes; precariously hanging limbs; trees on buildings and power lines; blocked streets and driveways.
Not only can trees in wires cause power outages, they can also hinder maintenance as well as threaten people and property. POLE TO POLE: Utility companies do provide complimentary maintainance for lines from pole to pole (usually alleys and streets). POLE TO HOME: Limbs threatening the backyard lines (pole to home) are the property owner's responsibility. Utility companies will advise you to consult a tree trimming service for these lines. River City Tree Service will work with utility companies to lower lines, if necessary, to make trimming quick and more convenient.
Winterize means trimming and deadwooding trees so they can make it safely through the winter. It's a preventative measure to protect your trees and surrounding property.
If you've read About Us, you know we like to spend a lot of time outdoors. Our River Services department is a natural outgrowth of our adventures. As we encountered and cleared obstacles on the waterways, we realized our skills might be valuable to others. Whether it's clearing trees and logjams, cleaning up stream banks, or trimming dangerous overhanging limbs, we have the experience. Actually it comes pretty natural - we just combine what we enjoy most (exploring streams and rivers) with what we do best (all types of tree work).
Our experienced arborists will remove limbs and branches at the ideal location, for maximum healing. The following video shows how precision also protects targets below. Utility companies only service trees in the lines from pole to pole (usually alleys and streets). Trees threatening the backyard lines (pole to home) - called a service drop - are the property owner's responsibility. Utility companies will advise you to consult a tree trimming service for these lines. Deadwooding also improves the health and appearance of your trees while discouraging pests and disease.
We don't always recommend tree removal, but it's one of the most frequently requested tree services. Large defective trees pose a serious threat to safety and property.
Some people enjoy stumps for one reason or another - hollow stumps make great flowerbeds. But on the other hand, stumps can be an unsightly inconvenience, harboring pests and disease. Typically, stump grindings are left on-site and make good mulch. However, since we do occasionally have a request to remove the chips and fill in the hole with dirt, we do provide these as separate services. Depending on your landscaping plans, you may want to move the grindings to another location to age because fresh chips may not be well suited for new plantings.
Experience and training are key to identifying specific harmful insects. Choose a tree service with a certified arborist on staff to receive appropriate treatment. Insects are more prevalent in diseased trees. They can also carry diseases from tree to tree. If you think you have an insect problem, a certified arborist can help identify pests and prescribe treatment. As usual, prevention is the best medicine. A regular maintenance program, including disease and insect control, will keep trees healthy.
