The fires of creativity and innovation don't light themselves. It's a single spark - one simple idea - that can shape a young mind, that inspires learning that goes beyond the classroom. You have a vision for education, and we see it, too. We'll provide the leadership and the roadmap to bring that vision to life. Founded in 1950, Hollis + Miller is an integrated architecture firm that's not only fluent in the language of education but designs the future of learning environments. Public, private, K-12 and higher education, we serve as an extension of your team as we create custom, research-backed designs and solutions-delivered on schedule and on budget, and with the same personal passion you bring to the classroom every day.
We engage all members of the design team starting at project initiation because we believe a learning environment is shaped by more than walls and floors. It's the interior design, environmental graphics, engineering and architecture all coming together to create a space that engages and nurtures the learner. Because of this, we integrate our studios so interior designers, graphic designers, architects, and structural engineers are all sitting and working together. We expand this by engaging our consultants early on to ensure a cohesive design.
Our design process continues to evolve and become more efficient as structural engineering is integrated from the very beginning. Co-creating in this way ensures a thoughtful, elegant structural system is achieved that complements and supports the desired architecture. Working within the design studio allows our engineers to work through structural issues that may arise more effectively, saving clients time and money. Our in-house structural engineers collaborate closely with the architect and design team to determine a proposed building's structural design.
A direct link exists between the physical space and learning experience. At Hollis + Miller, interior design is more than just picking colors. The walls, floors, ceilings, lights, colors, and textures define not only the mood and feel of the space, but also have the power to stimulate learning. Our interior designers work closely with our architects so that each learning environment we design positively impacts the learning process and helps our clients meet their goals for their students. Interior design is synonymous with architecture at Hollis + Miller.
Flexibility and adaptability are key to creating environments supporting an ever-evolving approach to preparing future-ready learners. We understand that a big part of this flexibility is in the furniture, fixtures and equipment you select for your learning environments. Our team will work with you to ensure functional and aesthetic pieces to make learners comfortable. Today, more than ever, there is a direct connection between differentiated learning and furniture. During the design phase of a project, we give attention to how a space can facilitate learning and encourage maximum student engagement.
Making you the best you. We empower our team, clients and communities through rewarding experiences and inspiring learning environments. So we can be the best us. We're creatives inspired by learners, designing with understanding to influence the communities we live in. At Hollis + Miller, we want to be a part of your educational experience. From research and design, to professionalism and public speaking skills, we want to help you grow and gain experience and skills to boost your career. Our integrated studios are great for collaboration, ensuring that you learn about the entire design process from the architects, graphic and interior designers, engineers, marketing team and more.
