If we asked you to think of what a window looks like, you'd probably create an image of a double hung window, with sliding sashes on both top and bottom. That's because double hung windows - particularly those manufactured by Renewal by Andersen windows - are among the most popular of all window styles. For homes featuring traditional New England architecture, double hung windows are an excellent choice when designing replacement windows along the coast of Maine and the Lakes Region of New Hampshire.
There are probably more options to select when designing your new Entry Door System than window and patio door options combined. Let alone the challenges any contractor will face when replacing a grand entrance (see our Doors page for more information). The task to even start considering your entry door replacement may seem daunting with everything that's available, but we have a solution. Our Design Consultants have perfected the process to help you navigate through, what seems to be, the never-ending selection of choices and present what your door will look like on your home with a digital rendition.
A patio door does "double duty" as a large glass area that offers a great view and allows in plenty of light, as well as a door that offers easy passage, often to an outdoor deck or patio. The right patio door can also make a statement by being attractive and increase the value of your home. However, like we mentioned on our Doors page, ALL DOORS ARE ROTTING! You could choose a patio door that would be a perfect compliment to your home, but who is going to install your new door and take care of the rotting sub sill, frame and casing?
If there was ever a window you accidentally left open when a rain storm hit, it had better be an Awning window. This window cranks out from the bottom and hinges at the top creating ventilation while still being protected from a light summer rain. We don't suggest leaving your awning windows open in a rain storm, but you can rest assured that the composite Fibrex material won't mold or rot if some water finds its way on the sashes and frames. Think of this window as a "Venting Picture Window." Many homes in Maine and New Hampshire were built with double-hung windows or double-casement windows over a kitchen sink.
The doors in your home are in constant use, opening and closing dozens of times every day. When you operate a window, usually you keep it open for the day and close it at night before bed. Doors take the most abuse than any other opening in your home. In addition, we believe doors cause the highest blood pressure concerns among homeowners today. They wear out and begin to sag, some decide to stick so hard that you need all your might just to open it or, in the case of sliding doors, locks begin to break causing you to find the coveted "piece of wood" to wedge-in one side in order to keep the door "locked."
We have taken precautions by following CDC guidelines to keep our employees and customers safe during our in-home appointments. This will allow us to go into an in depth inspection of your old windows and make recommendations so we can provide you with a project quote. Service beyond the window - You'll receive the perfect combination of the best people in the industry, a superior process, and an exclusive product. From design and sales through installation and service, we own the entire process-giving you a single point of contact and helping make replacing your windows the best home-improvement project you've ever done.
The real value of a replacement window could be the difference between a short-term purchase or a long-term investment. Meaning, would you rather a company take short-cuts on making the product in order to save you money? How about a company who doesn't invest in their installers to be come certified in order to save you money? Of course not! Inferior windows and doors made with inferior materials installed by novice laborers may help you save money in the short-term, but not provide a lasting solution.
The overall design of a home is difficult to change without making major, costly renovations. But installing a new, eye-catching Projection Window is one simple way to refresh and gain new perspective in your home. From living room to a living masterpiece, installing Bow and Bay windows can dramatically update the look of your home while making rooms feel larger and brighter. Here at Renewal by Andersen of Maine, we enhance breakfast nooks, have plants thank us on a regular basis, and create a space that the four-legged friends don't like sharing with humans.
Commonly known as "crank-out" windows, there are true benefits to the features of a casement window. However, beware of the inferior product that could leave you frustrated beyond belief and despising this window style forever. Technology to help crank-out windows operate has come a long way. The standard operating hardware in a Renewal by Andersen casement window allows the sash to "slide over" so you can clean the exterior of the glass, from inside your home. When minimum egress requirements are needed, casement windows can be built with "wide-open hinges" to allow access in and out from a bedroom window.
This client hasn't purchased yet, but really appreciated how we handled her in-home appointment:
A 'feel good story'. At the end of 2020 our company decided to give back to charities in our local communities as well as across the United States. A total of $25,000 was donated by our local company. $15,000 was determined by the managers of Renewal by Andersen of Maine. The other $10,000 was...

These are after photos of a window replacement project we performed in Kennebunk, ME. However, the kitchen window and living room windows are TWO DIFFERENT STYLES made to look the same. Bonus points to those who can guess the style of each window in these photos!
