Because the characteristics of natural stone vary, research should be done to ensure you choose the correct stone tile for your project. If two or more stones are placed together in a floor, it is possible that these stones will wear at different rates. If any materials used together have an abrasion resistance less than 20.0 when tested per ASTM C241 or C1353, the difference in abrasive resistance between the two stones should ideally be less than 5.0. Light-colored marbles, onyx, and limestone are susceptible to staining if installed with grey bonding mortars or silicone.
Vesta Tile is proud to serve Kentucky and the surrounding regions as a commercial installer of hard and soft surfaces and resinous flooring. We are able to meet your every need regardless of the size of your project. Our expert team will work with the professionals on your project to ensure the completion of the highest quality installation on a timely basis. Porcelain tile is ceramic tile with a water absorption of.5% or less. Porcelain tile is independently tested and confirmed to comply with the water absorption requirement, and are certified by the Porcelain Tile Certification Agency. Porcelain tile in compliance with ANSI A137.1 is considered impervious, and requires specific bonding materials because of its low water absorption. Porcelain tile provides greater abrasion and thermal shock resistance than ceramic, and is therefore suitable for exterior applications.
