Mud-jacking, slab-jacking or concrete raising - whatever you prefer to call it, all these terms refer to the same concrete repair process that fixes uneven and sloped cement slabs. During the concrete raising process, a slurry mixture is hydraulically pumped under a settled slab filling in the hollow areas and ultimately raising it back to its original position. When we're called to your residence or place of business to repair the concrete, we begin by drilling 1 holes in the sunken slab of concrete, approximately 2 to 3 feet apart.
There are many reasons water can leak into your home. One of the main causes of water leaks is hydrostatic pressure, or excess moisture around the foundation of your home. Long or hard periods of rainfall can significantly increase the hydrostatic pressure against the foundation of your home as the water drains below the soil's surface. Another cause of increased pressure is having rain gutters draining too close to the foundation. When hydrostatic pressure is constant or consistent, it causes cracks in the walls and floors allowing water to enter into your home.
Fact: Each year, nearly 250,000 homes in the U.S. experiences sinking foundations, cracked or buckled walls and uneven floors due to extreme moisture conditions or lack of proper drainage. Fact: Settled and cracked foundations cause structural damage and can actually diminish a home's value. If you think your home can't fall apart at the seams, literally, think again. Visible cracks, gaps and misalignment in your home's foundation means it has settled into the surrounding soil. Any signs of foundation settling should be cause for alarm for any homeowner, but it shouldn't be a major deal because the issues can be repaired rather easily.
