We recommend that you keep automobile traffic off the pavement for 2-3 days initially. If we are experiencing hotter than normal temperatures, it is best to add an extra day. We suggest building up the sides of your driveway with topsoil or gravel. This will give the driveway support in case someone accidently drives on the edges of the new pavement. Remember your new driveway will take a full year to cure. By curing we mean that asphalt needs time to harden. The curing process takes up to twelve months.

Another important stop to increase the longevity of your driveway is cracksealing. Petra Paving provides cracksealing for residential projects using a hot pour rubberized crack sealant. Cracksealing your driveway can deter water from penetrating the asphalt and undermining the integrity of the base. Untreated cracks are the major cause of pre mature pavement failure.
