Our products are individually tailored to meet the insulation customer's needs, on their specific equipment, be those needs cost-effectiveness, good recovery or strength.
FRP composites are used to replace steel, aluminum, and wood in a wide range of applications. Composites offer numerous advantages over other materials - lower density, lighter weight, better corrosion resistance, strength, and durability. Composites' inherent fire resistance, strength, and ability to withstand high temperature environments with less weight than those materials have made them the product of choice for fire resistant piping, mining ventilation systems, and armored vehicles. In public transportation, they are used in aircraft interiors, fire resistant railcar and bus parts, passenger decking and walkways.
We continue to develop new products that address the needs of our customers. All our water-soluble thermosetting resins were specifically designed to address individual customer requirements by providing good tensile and tear strength, and low emissions. Our urea-formaldehyde (UF) product lines are formulated for glass mat applications such as residential roofing shingles, built up roofing (BUR), wall board, and other specialty applications. These products can be tailored to your particular performance requirements and equipment needs.
These products are specifically designed and customized to fulfill individual laminate customer needs such as strength, low emissions, resin flow, low blister and post-formability while meeting applicable ASTM requirements. For the production of high-pressure laminates such as furniture, countertops, cabinetry, and flooring, Georgia-Pacific Chemicals manufactures a line of water soluble and alcohol soluble thermosetting phenol-formaldehyde (PF) resins. These resins have an average storage life of 3 weeks when stored below 60F.
Solutions of formaldehyde or formalin are used in the manufacture of synthetic resins due to their high reactivity with phenol, urea, melamine and other similar compounds. Georgia-Pacific Chemicals produces formaldehyde (HCHO) or formalin solutions at concentrations up to 52%, in both uninhibited and methanol-inhibited grades. Although these are the most popular formulations, we have the capability and expertise to customize unique formulations to meet your specific needs. GP formaldehyde solutions are used as a raw material in a broad range of industries and applications including molded articles; high-pressure laminates; adhesives for plywood and particleboard as well as other wood panelboard products; coatings; varnishes and enamels; foundry core and shell binders; glass and mineral wool insulation; and fertilizers.
