Schwanewede/Hals Engineering is a full-service civil engineering, planning and land surveying firm in Oakland, New Jersey. We provide a variety of comprehensive services for site development projects and municipal governments. David Hals founded Hals Engineering Company in 1988. The firm provided civil engineering and land surveying services to private clients and developers in Northern New Jersey. In 1995, the company combined with William H. Schwanewede Associates, to form Schwanewede/Hals Engineering.

Schwanewede/Hals Engineering provides structural engineering for a variety of clients which include homeowners, business owners, realtors, buyers and sellers of real estate, lending institutions, home inspectors, public adjusters, insurance companies, and architects. We can perform an overall structural assessment or inspect structural issues associated with flood damage, water damage, wind damage, tree damage, fire damage, foundation issues, or specific structural framing issues. We inspect and certify structural stability of retaining walls and structural repairs.
