Since 1984, CLA Engineers has been providing civil and structural engineering and surveying services to a mix of private and public clients in the Eastern Connecticut area as well as throughout New England. Our history began 1984 with our Incorporation asa consulting engineering firm specializing in all aspects of Civil Engineering. We're located in Norwich at 317 Main Street. We are a medium size firm and thus we have the staffing available to be responsive to our clients and to involve the direct participation of our principals. Throughout our history, we have grown in our consulting services to include civil, structural, inspection and surveying for numerous private, institutional, public, commercial and industrial clients.
Many of our structural projects involve the design of new building foundations and structural systems using structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and engineered wood framing systems. These engineering projects often require special knowledge of antiquated building systems and materials, and an understanding of how these materials and systems interact with modern structural systems. Our knowledge of the building code provisions that apply to existing and historic structures allows us to recommend efficient and code compliant alternatives for building renovation and restoration projects.
CLA Engineers offers a variety of geotechnical engineering services. The most common service sought is sub-surface exploration and a geotechnical report regarding a potential project site. Our firm has performed extensive design and analysis for a wide variety of projects including single-family dwellings, power facilities, factories, commercial arenas, metal buildings, recycling centers, et cetera. Our office has performed extensive field review of existing structures in order to determine structural/geotechnical integrity, as well as soil inspection during construction for conformance to geotechnical advisement.
