Our Green Hammer triumvirate of Russell Vaniea, Lynne Smith and Kevin Nortz was awesome to work with! They did an impeccable job transforming our modest bungalow, known as "Little Larch," into a completely chill, updated gem. The process went smoothly from start to finish, even during Covid times.
The overarching theme of the project team was mutual respect, a common goal of excellence, exceptional communication, and positive intent. The ODB meetings, both on-site and virtual, were well-run, informative, and so much fun. Team members held each other accountable to make things happen as planned and on budget. Items that weren’t part of the original scope were handled in such a gracious way and provided some amazing added value.
Lynne’s ability to present alternate design ideas was another act of grace. Kevin brought his impeccable structure, planning, insights, and brilliant sense of humor to our ODB meetings and project communications. And, Russell’s amazing attention to detail and calmness under pressure was invaluable.
We are indebted to your firm for the excellent quality of work, work ethic, and exceptionally talented team. Every day, we feel so grateful to have had this experience and now get to reside in this beautiful place we call home!

REACH decided to pursue Passive House construction of a 57 unit multifamily building in Hillsboro. REACH and our General Contractor had no previous experience with Passive House construction, so we hired Green Hammer as our consultant. Green Hammer’s participation on our team was critical to our success. Green Hammer staff were dedicated and patient as we worked through the details, demonstrating a true team effort. In the summer of 2015 we celebrated the opening of the largest Passive House in North America and owe Green Hammer our gratitude. The project has received several awards, including the 2015 Passive House Institute U S (PHIUS) Building Project Competition in the Best Overall Project and the Best Affordable Housing Project categories. We look forward to a long relationship with Green Hammer.

Green Hammer masterfully turned my dark, outdated, unhealthy and poorly laid out bungalow into a work of liveable art. From the design, to the wood craftsmanship, to the selection of beautiful fixtures and uber-efficient appliances, Green Hammer came through beyond expectation - all with a positive, professional and calming attitude! And as much as I love the look, function and feel of my house, perhaps the most exceptional part is what cannot even be seen: a ventilation system, vapor barriers, and whatever else the stuff is called that is consonant with Green Hammer's commitment to environmental stewardship and human health. I highly recommend the team at Green Hammer for all your design-build needs!
