Post frame buildings are composed of primary structural frames typically made up of a clear span truss supported by two columns and supported or connected by purlins (horizontal structures supporting the roof), girts (horizontal structures supporting the walls), and sheathing. Loads are transferred to the ground through columns, either poles or squared-off posts of pressure treated timber, typically embedded in the ground.
