Every piece of handmade custom furniture from Berkeley Mills in San Francisco begins with the selection of the perfect piece of solid wood. Each board is chosen for color and grain and where it will be used in the piece. To build our custom furniture, we use traditional handmade furniture joinery - executed with modern, precision machines as well as by highly skilled craftsmen using hand tools. We lavish special attention on functional details such as thru-tenons and handpegged joinery that make each piece heirloom quality furniture.

Berkeley Mills is a team of 40 highly skilled artisans, designers and engineers who are devoted to the success of your project. Our full-service design team will work directly with you or in collaboration with your architect or designer to achieve the perfect marriage of form and function. We will install ourselves, or we will provide detailed instructions to assure successful installation by your contractor. We can use millwork for a wide variety of custom woodwork projects for you such as bookcases for a home library, new staircases or dining areas for a restaurant.
