The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) is a labor union which represents workers in the electrical industry in the United States, Canada, Panama and several Caribbean island nations; particularly electricians, or Inside Wiremen, in the construction industry and linemen and other employees of public utilities.
It was founded in 1891 shortly after homes and businesses in the United States began receiving electricity.
The mission is to educate our members to insure we are providing the Electrical Industry with the most highly trained and highly skilled workforce possible.
The El Paso Electricians JATC is a federal and state registered apprenticeship program that requires each Apprentice Inside Wireman to complete 900 classroom hours as well as 8000 on the job training hours.
Once an apprentice is accepted into the program, and indentured, they are placed to work with one of our participating contractors.
A Journeyman Wireman ensures that the apprentice is receiving proper on the job training.
The apprentice is also required to attend related classroom training for at least 6 hours a week in order to complete the National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee's Apprentice Inside Wireman course of study.
