While many lumber mills focus only on large orders to bring in revenue, we treat every order with the same importance no matter the size. Our moulding program is designed to fill all sizes of orders by keeping a large stock of moulder blanks. With our moulder blank inventory on hand, we can quote small runs as fast as we'd respond to large runs. Having a set cost lets us bypass the extra time involved trying to source the lumber and analyze widths on hand for an effective quote. With the help of our pioneering efforts, the standards for grading Red Oak and Poplar S4S boards were set.
The best floor is a flat floor. Our corkscrew sticks, weighted cover tops and kiln-drying make sure the boards don't cup, crown, bend, twist or bow during the drying process. This result is flooring as flat as it is wide and straight as it is long. While lumber manufacturing has changed over the decades, we feel like there are some things that shouldn't. That's why we slow-mold our planks at 130 to 170 lineal feet per minute compared to the current industry standard 450. Slow-molding requires less sanding, produces less waste and takes finish better.
