We love wood flooring and want to make sure that we'll be able to create the best wide plank floors for many generations to come. More importantly, we understand that the great forests of our country should be preserved so all can enjoy their beauty. That's why we insist that all of our suppliers grow and harvest their trees in the most sustainable manner possible. We firmly believe responsible stewardship of our natural resources is not just good business, it's a good investment in our environment.
Douglas Fir, also known as Oregon Pine or Red Spruce has been coveted by furniture, cabinet and home builders since the colonial era, and its strength and wear resistance, coupled with its strong, flowing grain lines make it an ideal choice for a wide plank floor. Although Douglas Fir is readily available in much of the United States, we rigorously inspect and select only the best examples to use in our wide plank flooring. It's a time consuming process, but the end result is well worth the effort.
We're truly pleased to announce the launch of Woodwrights Interior Doors. This offering gives architects and designers a seamless source for superior quality interior doors that will match your vision and impress your clients. Every door is made with the finest woods available and made to order to your exact specifications. From traditional to modern and everything in-between, sourcing a Woodwrights Interior Door will open up a new world of design possibilities.
Not all Oak is created the same-and there is one profound difference between the common American Oak you see in most furniture and flooring, and our exclusive European Oak. Woodwrights European Oak wide plank flooring grows at a much slower rate than American Oak, and this produces a very tight grain grain which enhances the strength and beauty of the wood. And because of its increased strength we are able to achieve board widths and lengths that you cannot safely achieve with American Oak wide plank floors.
