Fencing is one of the oldest sports to be featured in the Modern Olympic Games. Drawing its roots from, of course, sword fighting, fencing exists today as a rapidly growing sport that teaches discipline, coordination, athleticism, critical thinking and confidence, all in a fun and incredibly safe environment. There are three different fencing weapons or disciplines: foil, epee and saber. Most fencers specialize in only one weapon, as each one takes time and dedication to master.
Candlewood Fencing Center is the premier fencing academy in Connecticut. For almost 30 Years, we have been dedicated to promoting the sport of fencing at both the competitive and recreational levels. With two convenient locations in Danbury and Norwalk, we are Connecticut's oldest and most decorated fencing club, and we are so honored to have been ranked the highest in Connecticut by National Fencing Club Rankings' list of "Best Fencing Clubs" last year! We know our success is all thanks to you, our community, for allowing us to serve you and the fencers in your family, and for that we thank you!
Fencers of all experience levels are welcome to attend, as we will split the campers up by both weapon and experience level. First time fencing? That's great! We'll jump start you with all the skills you need to get out there and have at it! Are you a more experienced fencer? Come and train with our National Point Holders and World Team Member Coaches! Campers will engage in physical training, mobility, fencing footwork, bladework, tactical drilling and free fencing as a group. Each student will receive private lessons from different coaches throughout the week.
