In 1948, Ted Glass saw a demand for a tree spray company to be started in the Eugene/Springfield area. After several requests for his expert advice and assistance with orchard spraying, Ted created Glass Tree Care. An innovative pioneer in the spray service industry, he developed many of the practices and services that are used by the spray service industry today. He invented and marketed the first roof moss removal product in the Northwest. Ted prided himself on catering to the customer's needs.
A fertilizer is any type of material (other than lime) that is applied to soil, plants, trees or shrubs to supply it with nutrients that are imperative to the growth and development of the plant. In the case of trees & shrubs, research has shown that when these trees receive nitrogen fertilizer they will grow more rapidly, develop a denser canopy of leaves and branches, and stay green longer into the fall. Before fertilization we'll want to know how much growth the tree or shrub typically has in year.
We can help you maintain healthy plants rich with color and dense foliage. Natural Solutions creates thriving plants and balanced soils using natural materials from the land and sea, such as kelp and fish emulsion, essential plant oils, and other naturally occurring elements in our plant health care mixtures. Tree and shrub care packages can consist of five to seven applications of OMRI listed materials. Kelp and fish emulsion with natural disease and insect controlling ingredients, including a variety organic oils with pest and disease fighting properties, are the most frequently used.
From mites to ants to spiders, there is a wide variety of pests that can take hold of your landscape. While it may be tempting to wait and see if the problem resolves itself, if left untreated this presence can shift from just a nuisance to a more serious threat. Glass Tree Care restores your peace of mind by providing a swift and thorough response with lasting protection against all pests. We first identify your specific issue and then we formulate a plan of attack. Every environment is different and we cater our response accordingly.
Weed control is a year-round job that can be streamlined by careful planning of your landscape, good maintenance practices, and the use of spray services. Depending on your landscape and the environment and exposure concerns, you'll have many options available to you. These options include a combination of manual weeding, proper identification and treatment of existing weeds, and removal or planting of additional landscaping materials to control the livability of the weeds. Weed control requires both patience and persistence.
If you're like most homeowners with a lawn, you've probably encountered moss, thatching, weeds or fungus impacting the green, healthy lawn you planned to have. There are preventative strategies, chemical treatments and natural solutions for controlling these common lawn problems. Thatch happens when dead and living plant parts intermingle between the green top layer and soil. When the thatch becomes thick, uneven dry spots develop. This leaves the green part of the grass growing above the soil line so it's not as well insulated.
A healthy outdoor landscape can add value to your property. Regular tree and shrub care can control pests, improve tree and shrub roots and enhance the performance of ornamental plants keeping your landscape beautiful for years to come. There are two indicators that are used to determine when insect pests will become active. There are growing degree-days and phonological indicators. Pest activity is closely related to temperatures. Many insects are more active when the growing degree-days reach a certain range.
Spiders are great at controlling pests because they consume insects that may harm plants, trees and shrubs. However, spiders will consume both the good and bad bugs so an overpopulation of them can destroy the balance of your landscape. Because spiders are attracted to areas with lots of insects, you can reduce the spider population around your home by reducing the insect population and removing the spiders' webs. Porch lights can also attract insects, thus attracting more spiders. Spiders can be sprayed and treated just like any other predatory insect for removal.
