The VA and HUD require a termite inspection for mortgages on all Indiana properties on the first floor. It is not enough for an individual to do a self inspection. The VA requires that a licensed inspector who is neither selling or buying the property determine if there is wood damage, dead insects, live insects, etc. Furthermore, they require the inspector to provide recommendations for dealing with any discovered issues, including issues that could faciliate an infestation. Creepy Crawler's has done such inspections and is familiar with the required report NPMA-33.
Bedbugs are very small, reddish brown/dark brown insects that live on blood. Their eggs are very small (about 1mm or less than a 1/16") and the bugs vary from 1.5mm (1/16") to 4.5mm (less than 1/4"). Because they are so small, they can hide between a mattress and box springs, between the mattress and bed frame, in carpets under furniture, and other tiny spaces. They only come out to feed, which makes it difficult to know you have an infestation. Many people don't know until someone reacts to bed bug bites or they notice that sheets and mattress have new, small, blackish colored spots.
Hornets, wasps and yellowjackets are seen most often in the warmer months. Nests and hives may be found in trees, under roof eaves or gutters, or on objects around a house or business. Unlike bees, they have slender, smooth, and shinny bodies. These insects will sting to defend their colony. In late summer and fall, many can be aggressive and a serious nuisance, stinging for no apparent reason. Wasps can sting repeatedly and will often do so. Hiring a knowledgeable pest control company to determine whether you have bees, hornets, wasps or yellowjackets is strongly recommended by most government agencies.
