Central Mechanical Wichita (CMW) was founded in 1990 by Phil Sewell, Phil Horner and Tom Horner. The company began as a sheet metal and HVAC operation and plumbing services were added in 1992. Over the next 25 years, CMW developed into a full-scale commercial HVAC contractor offering HVAC and plumbing along with service and maintenance to customers in the Wichita and broader Kansas marketplace. In July 2015, four new owners purchased the business from the original ownership group. The four new partners include Matt Smith, President; Chad Carpenter, CFO; Jamie Conner; Vice President; and Jesse Prier, Vice President.

Jamie Conner began working in the sheet metal trade in 1988. He came to CMW in 1996 and started as a project foreman. Jamie has been a part of helping CMW achieve it's goal of excellence in our industry for many years. In his current role, he is part of each and every project, making sure that quality and schedule demands are being met. In 2015, he became a partner and vice president of Central Mechanical Wichita. Conner obtained his journeyman license in 1997 and maintains that license currently.
Chad Carpenter graduated from Wichita State University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in accountancy. Following college, he spent several years working for a CPA firm doing both tax accounting and audit work. He then spent many years working as a corporate controller in the aerospace industry. In 2014, he joined CMW as chief financial officer. And, in 2015, Chad became a partner in the company. Chad believes strongly in four things: family, friends, God and the Wichita State Shockers!
