We are a design and build contracting firm that has been in business since 1990. Our territory is Lower Fairfield County of Connecticut and we work in residential, commercial and industrial areas. We specialize in Green Heating, hot water heating (including radiant), steam heating and plumbing. Our company excels in custom work. Jobs range in size from service work that takes less then an hour to complicated projects that can take more then a year to complete. We are members of many trade associations and are fully licensed and insured.
Below is a radiant project that we completed. To the bottom left is a heat exchanger. Water is brought into the house from a well and provides cooling for the Geothermal Radiant Cooling System. This system is a supplement to the existing air conditioning for the house. The radiant cooled floors feel comfortable in the summer time and reduce the load of the air conditioning. All of this is done without a heat pump! The electrical consumption is lower then a compressor. Without the heat pump, installation costs were lower too.
Geothermal systems have some great rebates available from Federal and State programs! The correct name for Geothermal is Geo Exchange. They use the ground as a heat exchanger. These heat pumps are over 100% efficient because of the bonus energy from the ground. There are two types of systems. One uses electricity as a fuel and the other uses Gas as the fuel. The Gas version or GAHP performs better then the Electric version in our area in both co2 reduction and price of fuel.
We have chosen four alternate energy systems to gather expertise in. We can install any of the four systems. What we like about these four systems is that they all have some form of free or bonus energy. In three of the systems, Solar Thermal, Geothermal and GAHP you can get efficiencies over 100%! That means you get more energy out then you put in! Solar Thermal is considered to be Renewable Energy and gets its bonus energy from the Sun! Geothermal gets its bonus energy from the earth. GAHP's (Gas Apsorbtion Heat pumps) get there bonus energy from the earth or outside air.
John Ruhnke, owner of JR's Comfortable Heat, is a Past President of the Inventors Association of Connecticut (IACT). John received some grant money to procede further with the Autopurger project. We have built three working prototypes (See picture). John Ruhnke has received Three patents. Two are on the Autopurger Project and one is on the Overall Efficiency Project. In the Overall Efficiency Project, John Ruhnke and Robert Distinti wrote a formula to calculate Overall Efficiency in a heating system.
To the right is a picture of some board work done for a project we did. They had old cast iron radiators throughout the house. In the basement they had these huge pipes running below the ceiling taking up all of the head room. I banged my head a couple of times doing the proposal. We cut out all of the steel pipes and replaced them with smaller flexible plastic PEX piping. We added manifolds with balence valves so the homeowner could adjust the comfort of individual rooms.
We can handle all of your design needs. We can design a complete HVAC system or justthe hydronics portion. John Ruhnke did the CAD drawings for all of our award wining contests. All of our projects start off with a heat loss. From the heat loss information flows into the design program. Based on the design information, electrical and mechanical CAD drawings are completed. CAD drawings can be exported as an AutoCAD file. Drawings are shown to and checked by technical representatives from the equipment manufacturers and other outside sources.
