Situation: We were sub-contracted by Hamilton and Associates to work with a family that had experienced mine subsidence. This contractor has worked exclusively with American Energy Coal and was getting price-gouged by other foundation contractors. They had heard of our reputation and our ability to lift structures. The house was a little less than 300 linear feet and was two stories with a basement. Most of the house (second story included) was concrete. This was a "green" built house with solar panels, customer metal roof and their own compost machine.

Proposed Solution: Alabama Ram Jack proposed excavating the area prior to installing steel helical tie-back anchors and helical piles to vertically stabilize the foundation.

From 1920-1960, basements were standard in most homes in Reno, Nevada. Not only did they provide ample storage for dry goods, food, and coal, but they also added a layer of protection for structures built on the highly expansive soils. Constructed in 1954, this single-story, residential home has a basement which spans the entire footprint of the living area above. The home was built on the sandy, clay-rich soil of the Alluvian Fan Deposits of the Peavine Mountain. This soil is particularly susceptible to expansion and contraction based on moisture content.

The Bonaventure Assisted Living Facility in Pueblo, Colorado contacted Straight Line Construction to provide a solution for an existing column. Floor level surveys and visual observations pointed to the culprit: settlement of the surficial soils. Plans for Houston Country Club's main building--a two-story structure that contains the dining room, restrooms, kitchen, locker rooms and meeting room--renovation and roof replacement hit a snag, but with the help of Fortified Engineering and Ram Jack.
