Our professionally-trained employees are fully licensed and have passed extensive tests, including drug tests, to ensure we maintain a safe and productive workplace. We have grown to be one of the largest commercial design and installation companies in our area.
Our Grandfather, Harvey Hottel, was certainly ahead of his time. World War II was drawing to a close in 1945, and food rationing in America was about to end. Harvey was sent to Washington, D.C. to design and install government food storage plants, and Comfort Cooling was created. Although this new technology was not yet available to the public, intuition told him that someday Comfort Cooling would be in demand on a much larger scale. History confirmed that our grandfather was onto something! Popularity of Comfort Cooling, or air conditioning, did in fact, grow and become standard in movie theatres, stores, and restaurants.
Harvey W. Hottel, Inc. began in 1945 designing and installing commercial air conditioning systems for the US Government and commercial building owners. From the beginning we have recognized the importance of a well-qualified workforce and that holds true to this day. Harvey W. Hottel has always invested in its people and it shows in the quality projects we deliver. We are confident that our people make the difference. Harvey Hottel is proud to be a part of some the largest projects in the area. Our construction division is completely outfitted with the latest technology and has a full range of trucks, special technology, and an industry leading development/ engineering team available.
Our team is composed of highly skilled mechanical and electrical engineers with years of experience designing and overseeing the deployment of commercial systems throughout the region. Our engineers and draftsman are experts with the Mid-Atlantic non-residential buildings standards and are very conscious of developing and building systems that meet acceptable "indoor air quality standards". We are one of the few firms in the entire region that offer complete design and installation services for traditional HVAC systems as well as capabilities to develop LEED Certified Green Buildings.
