About Us
R.B. Queern & Co., Inc. was founded in 1994 as a 24-hour oil and gas heating service. We began in Richard's home, offering a wide range of services from annual maintenance to emergency repair and new system installations. Our founder is a third-generation mechanic who learned the trade from his father, Richard E Queern, who owned and operated E.B. Brooks Co. Richard learned from his father Edward (Ned) B. Brooks who started E.B. Brooks Co., in Jamestown. Edward Brooks started his company back in the early 1900s when delivering oil required a 50-gallon barrel on the back of a horse-drawn wagon.

I called on a Monday, in February, for a non-emergency, and I had service in just two days. The technicians were clean, professional, polite, courteous, and took the time to explain their work. I can’t say enough good things about this company!

Several weeks ago I lost heat. I couldn't figure out the reason. I called Queern and an employee was at my home within 45 minutes. Within 15 minutes, he figured the reason which was a frozen heating pipe. This has never happened to me in all of the 30 plus years that I have lived here! Luckily it never burst. If it did then I would have found out the reason. Yes, like other professions, Queern employees are first responders too!

Have been using RB Queern for several years now for my rental property. They are always timely and reasonable. Had a recent issue where heat wasn't working after they came out for annual maintenance and they came out within the hour and waived the fee. Overall very honest company and easy to deal with. Chelsea who handles the billing and scheduling is great to work with. Would highly recommend them.

On the Sunday morning after a burst pipe in our home in Newport, RB Queern was able to come Sunday morning to get us up and running. A return visit on Tuesday and our broken pipe was repaired.
I just received the bills and all o their fine work was reasonably priced. I was impressed with this company about 5 years ago when we converted to gas. It continues to provide excellent and responsive service.

R.B. Queern recently responded to my request for help with an A/C problem. They responded quickly and resolved the problem satisfactorily. The technician was thorough and patiently explained the technical issues. I thought the service charge was fair and, unlike some other local companies, they did not charge my credit card in advance for the service call.

I tend to fix most home issues except HVAC systems. Unfortunately our furnace went on the fritz at the worst time as Winter Storm Grayson was hammering our area. Jason came out with no questions asked and was able to identify our problem in less than 10 mins and had the replacement control assembly already in hand. Extremely knowledgeable and even provided some pointers how to effeciently heat our house during the winter. Service was outstanding and prompt. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great service

I received a quote from another company and they said that I needed a much larger unit, and the work was almost twice as much as what RB Queern charged me. They were very helpful and made sure I received not only a properly sized water heater, but a good quality one. The workmen were very polite and efficient, they left the basement neater than when they got there. I look forward to working with them in the future for my heating needs.
You have not followed up on any of your promises. You have promised quotes - nothing. I have called multiple times - you said someone will call me back. How on earth do you think I am going to entrust my heating and AC to you if you cannot get the basics done. I live in Portsmouth and want to support the local guy, but you are making it very difficult.

Troubleshooted a no-heat/hot-water situation for a furnace-fired water heating system. Had it up and running quickly. ended up replacing a valve and expansion tank.

The staff is always great. They left the area fine. They said 10 to 10:30. There were there at 10:30 on the nose. I was very pleased with them.

Very prompt service. He was quick to diagnose the issue, order the right parts and fix as soon as the parts came in. The owner kept us in the loop at all times through e-mail on the status of our parts on order. Great communication with reasonable prices. Would definitely use again.

They are excellent. They did come and helped me out everything worked out well. They are a limited provider so I can have them come and do things like inspect my boiler, but they don't do plumbing itself so I may have them come back for an inspection, but I am not sure, if I can find a plumber that does both I would rather do that it is little easier that way, but they were very good. I would use them again.

I called RB Queern to address a heating issue in one of the zones of my house. They were prompt and professional, got right down to business and found several issues which needed correcting, both with the furnace and with the thermostat. They were able to handle all issues at the time, and explained to me everything they were doing and why. I don't think it could have gone any better.
