The size of air conditioning unit you need for your HVAC system is dependent on the size your space. If you take the square footage of the entire space you need cooled, then divide it by 500. This will give you the general number of tons your air conditioner needs to be rated.
If your gas furnace is not running, the first thing to do is make sure that it has power and that the blower motor is running. If the blower motor is not running, it will need to be fixed or replaced.
