HandyMensch Home Remodeling specializes in remodeling projects that are too large for the neighborhood handyman but too small for the General Contractor that deals with large additions. Our work includes kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodeling, basement remodeling, deck building and significant structural repairs/modifications. We designed our consultative design build process for small to medium sized remodeling projects to provide many of the same benefits that you would receive from a large general contractor but at a lower cost.

Bathroom Remodels are great room to have some fun in your house. Think of it like a really fun necktie paired with a conservative suit. Powder room remodels are especially good for something different. Want a more spa like zen feel in your master bathroom? Got a large space you want to redesign the layout or a small dark bathroom that needs some way to feel bigger and brighter? Need to add a new basement bathroom on a concrete slab? Take down a wall, move a door, tile accent walls, pull a tub and turn it into a nice walk in shower.

Finishing your basement is a great way to add significant square footage to your home without the cost of an addition. Your basement project might be starting as an unfinished space or it could be an existing finished basement that needs to go to the next level. Along the way we can add a new bathroom, storage, home theater (man cave) or a new entertaining space. If you want to add a bedroom, ask us about adding an egress window. We love to hear how you want to live in the space so we can guide you on the best value for you remodeling budget.

You might be moving up from a rental unit or downsizing to get closer to the action. A condo remodeling project is a smart way to personalize your space and add to the long-term value of your investment. Starting with the design process you may be faced with some challenges on which walls can be moved, sprinklers that are "in the way" or older buildings with limitations on electrical and plumbing upgrades. What rules does your condo association expect you to follow to gain approval for that new washer/dryer you want to add?

Imagine a giant thumb pushing down on the roof of your house. That force (load) must be transferred through the structure and into the ground. When modifying walls that are load bearing the force must be properly transferred around the new opening. When walls have been improperly modified, floor joists have been damaged or water has slowly rotted structural members the results are sagging floors, doors/windows that won't close properly or in the worse cases collapse. We start our analysis by bringing in our Structural Engineer so we can jointly develop a solution which involves a bit of math coupled with the feasibility of implementation.

Remodeling a kitchen involves more than selecting cabinets and countertops. Start with design that reflects how you want to use the space. Do you need to open a load bearing wall for a larger space, rearrange the flow of the room so everyone stops bumping into each other, create more counter space to prepare that big meal or all of the above? Next we can guide you to select materials that reflect your style - warmer more traditional tones, sleek and contemporary or maybe something in between? Thinking of selling in a few years and want to stay neutral?

Want a new deck made from pressure treated lumber or Trex composite decking? What about refurbishing an old deck or porch? Give us a call to discuss your needs. We can evaluate your existing structure to let you know if it worth updating or if it is better to replace it.

I had to renovate my small 1955 bathroom due to a water leak and the only way to do it right was to gut the entire thing. It's the only full bathroom in a small house so I needed a company that could handle the entire job, including the design and the multiple trades, and complete it quickly and efficiently.

They fixed up my bathroom beautifully! The team was prompt and courteous throughout their time in the house. Highly recommend.

Handymensch did work in my crawl space to replace rotted rim joist, sill plate and a few floor joists on the front foundation wall. They thoroughly explained the work to be done, the process and were excellent in communicating with me from beginning to end! The crew working on this project were professional and paid close attention to details. I am extremely pleased with the final results and grateful this was a positive home repair experience! I would definitely recommend them to family and friends.
