Over 90% of the cabinets we sell are manufactured locally in our 150,000 square foot Norwood, MA factory. Unlike any other cabinet maker in New England, our mill produces exceptionally high quality, hand-crafted cabinetry made from American sourced materials. Metropolitan operates two countertop fabrication shops in our Norwood, MA facility - stone and laminate. Using the best fabricating machinery available, our tops are made with meticulous care and dedication. We take pride in doing things right, and our state-of-the-art facility allows us to provide our customers with the best products at the best prices.

Metropolitan offers beautiful, custom wood countertops manufactured by CafCountertops, available in a large selection of wood species, stains and edge details. Wood countertops offer a natural beauty that enhance the appearance of any kitchen. Boos Classic Butcher Block countertops are fabricated of the finest hard maple, offered with rails of different lengths which are rich in defined grain and varied color. Butcher blocks can be preserved by keeping your home properly humidified and by refreshing it with oil on a regular basis.

Our stone specialists keep the Metropolitan indoor stone showroom filled with stock inventory of trending materials to save customers time and money. In addition to our wide variety of quartz, marble, quartzite and granite, we work with local stone importers to source for any stone we don't stock. Beyond countertops, we can help with other stone decorprojects for residential homes and multi-family projects.

We offer hundreds of laminate colors and patterns to choose from, fabricated locally right at our Norwood facility. We fabricate laminate cabinet doors from every vendor, including Formica, Wilsonart, Pionite, Poliform, Nevamar, Arborite and Lamin-Art.

Our story begins with Stuart Elfland and his father Mike, who started Metropolitan Cabinets & Countertops in 1984 to provide high-quality products to the trade.

Metropolitan's cabinet mill and countertop shop both promote environmental sustainability, recycling and the use of low VOC finishes and NAF plywood, with certification by the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturer's Association and a participant in the KCMA's Environmental Stewardship Program (ESP). We are proud to be an ESP certified facility, exemplifying environmental stewardship in our industry and the community. Since 2008, Metropolitan has participated in the KCMA's Environmental Stewardship Program which ensures that the products used in manufacturing conform to the industry's highest standards.

In April of 2007, The California Air Resource Board (CARB) passed the Airborne Toxic Control Measure (ATCM) designed to reduce formaldehyde emissions from composite wood products.
