Patios and walkways serve as the base for most home's landscapes and outdoor living spaces. Creating great access with pathways, and usable outdoor living spaces with patios, provide the foundation to other landscape elements such as fire pits, outdoor fireplaces, outdoor kitchens, and more. Stairs are an essential component of most landscapes, and Evergreen Landscape & Design builds amazing stairs. Landscaping with stairs is limitless in its possibilities. Some of our favorite stairs to build in Evergreen, Colorado, and the surrounding mountain communities of Golden, Conifer, Morrison and Genesee are natural stone stairs. We can build landscape stairs like mortared flagstone stairs, natural stone slab stairs, and stone stairs that incorporate large boulders around them. We use landscape timbers to build stairs when cost is a factor.
Outdoor kitchens can be as simple as a single grill, or can have grills, side burners, refrigerators, icemakers, cooled or heated serving stations, kegerators, sinks, customized lighting, or whatever else our imaginations can dream up. Covered outdoor kitchen areas can be useful on days where weather is not ideal or to protect the area from direct sunlight on hot Colorado days. Our goal is to design an outdoor kitchen space that will accommodate your cooking and entertaining needs, while providing great usability and access, all while adding an attractive element and focal point to the overall landscape design.
Colorado provides many challenges to the gardener. With our arid climate, high altitude and short growing season, selecting the right plants can be challenging. Beautiful as they may be, deer and elk provide yet another challenge to the high country gardener. Whether you intend on planting a small rock garden or an extensive landscape, you will most likely be visited by deer and/or elk who assume you've created a salad bar just for them. To help you, we have created two informative brochures that can help you select and care for your plants, trees and bushes.
A designer will provide a complimentary consultation to determine needs, objectives, design ideas, and personal preferences regarding styles and possible materials used. When the overall design has been determined, including placement of hardscape, plantings, etc., you will be presented with a to-scale drawing (if applicable) and a detailed proposal of all work to be done.
Retaining walls are used to retain grades, create level and usable spaces, and add depth and height to a landscape. Structural retaining walls or walls over 4' in height will often require an engineer to design them, and the local county's approval of the projects design and installation. Most of the time, we design retaining walls that do not require all the engineering investment, and it is rare that we need to go to that expense with residential landscapes. Living in the mountains usually means you have a property that will require some type of retaining wall incorporated into the landscape.
Landscape design is the beginning of the landscaping process, and sets the tone for the whole project. Most people are not visual in nature and struggle when a contractor or designer starts his presentation of ideas with words and gesturing his hands to explain a vision. That is where a landscape drawing will explain in pictures a designer's vision. It bridges the gap between words and actual visualization, allowing the customer to see what is being proposed. It starts with the ability of a designer or architect to envision the possibilities, and blend this vision with the customer's needs, the existing site's layout and features, and to work all of that into the available budget.
Water Features are one of our favorite things to build in a Colorado Landscapes. Outdoor living spaces with water features or fountains provide a wonder feeling and sound. We specialize in creating water features with a natural appearance, using boulders and plantings to create that rocky mountain feel. We can design water features in many different styles and sizes. No two water features are ever the same. We design natural appearing water features, formal water features, water fountains and pool features.
