Acer Landscaping LLC is a full-service Madison landscaping company. Since 2011, Acer Landscaping has created exceptional landscapes, installed top-notch patios, driveways and other hardscape structures, and provided quality lawn and garden maintenance services in the Greater Madison area. With a focus on detail and design, we ensure quality, innovation, and longevity goes into all our Madison landscaping and hardscaping work. We continually build our landscape design expertise through ongoing education, professional certifications, memberships in local and national landscape industry organizations.

Nate founded Acer Landscaping in 2011, after many years working in the industry. During college, Nate always worked outdoor summer jobs, whether working for the City Parks Department back home or working for another landscape firm, gaining experience and knowledge. After over ten years with a large Wisconsin landscaping company where he learned nearly every possible role, he ventured out on his own to start Acer Landscaping. He never looked back, and Acer has grown each year. Acer is now large enough that we can take nearly any size project, big or small, but small enough that we still enjoy a tight-knit family feel within the team.

Our landscape design services are based on the individuality of each client and the unique quality of each site and home. We aim to produce a realistic outline for a cohesive, beautiful landscape plan that fits your family, home and the rhythms of your life together. Client input and ideas are essential to achieving this. Although our design services can range from a simple consultation, to a sketch, to a comprehensive plan to guide all aspects of an installation, the majority of our design work is done in conjunction with an installation.

As cities grow and urban development occurs, our eco-system is increasingly jeopardized. Parks and open spaces are turning into office buildings, fields and forests are now parking lots, and houses are being built larger while landscapes are becoming smaller. All this growth means rainwater decreasing areas available for direct soil penetrating. Instead, it runs off across pavement and concrete into streams, taking surface pollutants with it. When landscape construction includes a large area of non-permeable surfaces, the water flows faster and can cause serious erosion.

Our trees and shrubs are sourced from local nurseries whenever possible. All plants provided and installed by Acer Landscaping include starter fertilizer and a one year warranty (assuming proper care after planting).

Driveways can prevent unique challenges when compared to a standard backyard patio space or a paver path. A well-built driveway involves a number of structural design decisions. Together, these decisions can contribute to a flush, stable, attractive driveway that stands the test of time. Compaction can make or break your paver driveway. A driveway may appear perfectly laid on Day Zero, but if the base is vulnerable to significant compaction, the driveway may look and function horribly only a year later.

We do complete Landscape Designs and construction so that all of your outdoor living needs can be met simply and efficiently. Adding 'bones' to your outdoor landscape is a key component in creating a balanced design that holds up through every season.

While we would love to share our rates, the majority of our work is custom. Fixed-rate pricing rarely applies because there are many variables to consider on each project, with each tailored to the client's budget, goals and property context. Every yard is a little different, the scope of work varies widely, and equipment access to work area also varies, so it is difficult to nail down consistent pricing to share. We offer a few general examples of designs and corresponding pricing on our Landscape Design page, where some rough estimates of pricing is shown.

All Acer Landscaping employees wear a company uniform, so it should be clear who our staff are. Several staff members been through training with the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute or are certified installers (paver patios).

Patios are popular summer gathering places and also outdoor work spaces. Patios are open to a wide variety of colors and materials. Choose from architectural slabs, concrete pavers, flagstone, dimensional cut stone, other natural stones or cobbles. We can show you many options and discuss pros and cons of each option. Paths and walkways help direct foot traffic, define landscape elements and provide safe passage for bare feet. Material options include flagstone, concrete pavers, gravel, natural or man-made stepping stones.
