Here we used a disappearing fountain to provide background splash sound for a flagstone patio featuring a circular stone firepit. Your outdoor area could become much more usable by terracing it. Here we built Ashler stone retaining walls and added an Earthtone Crab Orchard flagstone patio and walkway. We also built a pondless waterfall central to the outdoor living area. Here we terraced the hill with Tennessee drystack stone and planted different textured, easy to care for plants.

By mixing different hardscape elements, we were able to create a tasteful and functional area. We used bricks for edges to pour the concrete, and we set cut pieces of Pennsylvania flagstone for visual effect. Stonework adds value as well as a sense of permanence to outdoor living areas. We overlaid the patio with Pennsylvania flagstone and veneered the walls, bench, fire pit, and columns with Tennessee fieldstone. Retaining walls give a sloped yard more usable space. We drystacked Ashler wall stone after grading the area for the Earthtone Craborchard walkway and patio.

Dogs love having a water feature for taking a refreshing sip on hot afternoons. Our pond is around 1200 gallons and has about 30' of stream falling around 4'. The stream splits and forms an island between the forks. We planted water loving plants like Creeping Jenny and Japanese Iris. We incorporated this waterfall into the retaining wall. It has a shallow pond in the basin and makes plenty of splash sound to drown out unwanted noise. We built this backyard disappearing waterfall that ends in a shallow pool as well.
