Our main focus is to provide a top quality product at an affordable price to our landscapers and to homeowners alike. We insist on only the best quality products to ensure that our customers are satisfied. John is very meticulous and somewhat of a perfectionist, so products that carry our name will be above standard and top-notch. We (John and Donna) began what would morph into Hanneman Forest Products in 1995. The business has evolved over time into a viable option for us and our two sons. John-Scott and Evan each contribute to this business guided at the helm by John and anchored by Donna in the books!
Hanneman Forest Products, LLC is a family owned and operated business producing color enhanced mulch, bulk firewood for private homes and wholesale, and woody biomass for paper mills or power plants to be burned for electricity. We also sell topsoil, compost, stone and other landscaping products for homeowners and landscapers. We have three sites for our different products. Our West End Mulch Yard is available for both wholesale and retail sales. Hanneman Forest Products is in essence, a wood recycling unit.
Mulch is any material, organic or inorganic, that is placed on top of the soil in a garden or landscape. Mulch is an essential component of low-maintenance landscapes. Aside from its decorative value, mulch offers many benefits to your soil and plants. Mulch reduces the amount of water lost through evaporation by shielding the soil from the sun's drying rays. It keeps the soil cooler during the summer and acts as an insulator through the cold winter months. Organic matter is added to the soil as the mulch breaks down.
The past few years I have bought a chord from Hanneman each fall. The wood was always well seasoned and better quality than any other company I have used in the past 15 years. Great folks!
Great place to get mulch and firewood. John has two great sons- John-Scott and Evan - they are super helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend getting your mulch and fire wood from here!
I have been buying from Hanneman for about 9 or so years. My standard order was 2.5 chords. If I remembered I specified oak if not I got "mixed" hardwoods. Some years 2.5 chords cut into one foot pieces to fit my wood stove was a real challenge to find a place to stack out of the weather. Some times it was no problem to find enough room. Especially when we got mixed hardwoods. This year I filled four fifty gallon trash cans with what I called bark, scrap, and kindling. This year some of the mixed hardwood felt paper light and was carefully used to get fires started only because their burn time was so quick. The good wood I used to get I found stacked in front of my local Kroger store. However, let me say they didn't ever fail to deliver, but what they delivered sadly went downhill the last few years. Due to illness, we are no longer in our little house in Varina. And I wish the Hanneman's continued sucess in there business ventures. I can say they gave me cured dry wood than anyone else we dealt with and I thank them for that.
