Eaton "fell in love with plants, " he says, over twenty years ago, when serendipity led him to a job working at Wendover Farm Nurseries. He has never looked back. Stonework came next. He built his first dry-laid stone wall for his father. The Secret Gardener then put down roots in Hudson in 1993 (in the building that now houses Caf Le Perche), and the nursery followed in 1998, when Eaton purchased the lot on Warren Street that serves as a showcase for his work. Many a customer has stumbled in off the sidewalk, drawn in by the peaceful green space, articulated by gravel paths only to become a decades-long client.
