In 1760s the Pepperell property had a beautiful stone walkway. The stones were hand picked, carried from Kittery's shore, hand tamped in place. At some point, a previous owner loamed and sodded a new lawn right over this historic walkway. We found, unearthed, and cleaned all the stones before laying a gravel foundation for a new walkway. Then - just as workers did 250 years before us - we hand tamped each stone in place.
