Local 60 is more committed than ever in promoting legislation and supporting our local political leaders to improving the quality of life for all working families and for workers rights. For over 125 years Local 60 has been committed to our members and community and will be there for our future generations. The Plumbers and Steamfitters JATC has a training program consisting of classroom instruction (Two nights per week, two semester per year) and on the job training. Apprentices earn raises every six months through completion of courses and excelling in job performance.
The Local 60 Pension Fund is a multi-employer pension fund established to provide retirement, disability and death benefits to members of, and individuals represented by, Plumbers & Steamfitters Local Union 60. Plan benefits are based upon annual employer contributions for participants which are reported to Local 60 from employer locations. The Local 60 Health and Welfare Plan is designed to provide medical and prescription coverage to members and their families, as well as provide benefits to workers during periods of unemployment or disability.
The journeymen and apprentices of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union 60 were instrumental in installing the plumbing and air-conditioning systems in some of the largest commercial and industrial projects in the Greater New Orleans area. Newer projects such as the Harrah's Casino and the Lowes Hotel to the granddaddy of them all the Superdome, home of the World Champion New Orleans Saints! We are constantly supplying quality craftsman for jobs at ongoing industrial projects at the Valero Refinery, Murphy Refinery, Folgers Coffee Plant and many more industrial plants from the mouth of the Mississippi River to the River Parishes.
Since 1891, the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union 60 has been instrumental in the plumbing and pipefitting industry of the Greater New Orleans area. From our humble beginnings on St. Claude Ave. in New Orleans to our expansive campus on Severn Ave. in Metairie, Louisiana, our mission has been and always will be to educate and produce a quality workforce. Our success is deeply rooted in the finest training programs in the world. We are a successful and growing organization representing over 2100 members.
