We are thrilled you have taken an interest in finding out more information about what our program has to offer! An apprentice in the Plumbing and Pipefitting industry is a person who is engaged in learning a trade by working with and assisting a qualified Journeyman in all phases of the Plumbing and Pipefitting industry. Local 441 is dedicated to continuing the tradition of excellence that the United Association established over 100 years ago. Our plumbers, pipefitters, welders and HVACR service technicians are the best in the industry.
A service technician's work covers the general responsibilities for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR). Here at Local 441 this would include the installation and maintenance of all sizes of heating and cooling systems for residential, commercial, institutional and industrial applications. Some job specific applications include complete gas piping installations, high voltage electrical components, testing and analyzing and start-up of systems. As a HVACR Service Technician we also believe that good customer relation skills become essential in providing the customer with a positive and informative visit.
Our welders work in every area of the construction industry where metals and alloys are joined. They will work with plumbers, pipefitters, sprinkler fitters, and HVACR techs. Work will include installation, maintenance, and repair of all types of piping systems as well as join structural steel brackets and supports for such systems. A welder has to work in many different environments and in all types of positions. Welders will study blueprints, drawing, and specifications for the job and must measure, cut and weld using various welding methods and tools, including Oxy-fuel cutting, Plasma Arc cutting, as well as other mechanical means; followed by grinding and squaring the pipe.
