The Century Slate Company is a corporation that has serviced the Carolinas' and Virginia's roofing needs for over 15 years. The Century Slate Company maintains a general contractor's license in several states including North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Tennessee. Unlimited Building and Roofing designations are held on our North Carolina license. Century Slate maintains an unlimited license designation in these states. Century Slate specializes in historically sensitive disciplines of the roofing trade and has completed projects for a base of clients that demand and rely on the preservation of the historic fabric of their buildings.

Tile may be the most customizable roof material ever. Usually formed from clay, tile can be molded to virtually any shape. Through the past several hundred years, there has been a standardization of some of the more effective profile types. Whether a tile is of the Shingle, Spanish, Interlocking, or Mission variety, it can be glazed in just about any color imaginable. We only use the best tiles, such as Ludowici. Naturally finished (unglazed) tile will always offer some of the warmest feeling, but tile can be glazed to match an owner or designers exact specifications.

We manufacture our items in house, cutting costs and getting you exactly what is needed on your roofing project. Our in house metal fabrication team at K&M Sheet Metal custom manufactures the items we need for our roof installations and repairs. Flashings, custom gutters, finials, dormers, cupolas, louvers etc. We work mostly with copper and zinc, but also work with terne material, kynar aluminum and steel, lead coated copper, freedom gray and stainless steel. The Century Slate Company specializes in roof installations in all of North Carolina, specially in the RTP / Triangle area as well as all of SC, TN, KY and GA.

The most traditional metal roof system, widely used with all materials is the mechanical lock metal roof system, aka standing seam roofing. Our metal roof installers can produce these panels to "infinite lengths", meaning that panels are normally formed from a coil to the needed length, and will not feature any seam whenever possible. These panels also can be installed in 2 different ways, a single lock and a double lock system. While the same panel is used for both, our expert metal roofers can fold the lock once, creating a single lock system, or twice, a double lock system.

Slate is one of the oldest roofing materials known to man. While it offers unrivaled beauty and appeal, it also provides some of the best value too. Slate can be combined in different size, color, pattern, and texture variations to achieve a seemingly limitless array of options. Regardless of these aesthetic attributes a slate roof will provide for what should be the roof investment for a lifetime. A slate roof will last for 100+ years when properly assembled and cared for. There are very few other products that can match the longevity of a slate roof, and none will be as "one of a kind."
