Erik explained the problem in simple terms while educating me on how it should work and what would fix the problem. He simply laid out what needed to be done and any options that would be ideal to do while it made sense hvaing the components apart that would improve the pressure and/or prevent future issues. As we're having an extensive bathroom remodel. His explanation of layout as well as suggestions regarding venting and toilet selection were most helpful. He suggested questions to ask our contractor we would not have thought to ask.

Sewage water exits your home by flushing through the building's waste pipes with the power of gravity. These sewage lines then connect with the city or town's sewer systems and travel many miles until it arrives at a treatment plant. Although gravity is the main force propelling the sewage water, some areas do utilize a pump when required. Sewer line problems can be extremely smelly and unhygienic issues to deal with for obvious reasons. A broken or clogged sewer line can bring waste back into your house or seep into your yard.
Although there are multiple systems that produce heat for a property, they all share the same simple principle; convert energy into heat. Central heating systems accomplish this by burning natural gas in a combustion chamber and then blowing the heated air through duct work throughout the house. Radiant heat system's ideology is similar to central heating where you have a central heating source (the furnace or the boiler) and then it is distributed through a network around the property. Radiant heat heats water instead of air and pushes the heat through pipes and radiators instead of vents.
At Gerard Plumbing and Heating, we recommend that you schedule a heating maintenance service call once per year. Traditionally you would do this in the Fall before the exterior temperatures are too cold. Annual heating system maintenance is important for all radiant and central heating systems. Regular heating maintenance helps extend the life of your heating system, improves the system's efficiency, helps prevent repairs, aids in removing allergens, dust, and other airborne contaminates from the property, and can identify repairs that need to be addressed before they become a big problem.
A residential plumbing system is made up of two (2) separate systems. One plumbing system carries freshwater into the property, and the other plumbing system takes wastewater away from the property. Water entering the property is under pressure. It enters the property with enough pressure to travel throughout the entire building, even in an upward direction. When water comes into the property, it goes through a water meter that registers the amount of usage. The system has multiple shut off valve points, including a main shutoff valve, so that you can stop water flow to some or all of the property.
Professional duct cleaning is much more than reaching into an air vent with a scrub brush. A duct cleaning services utilizes high powered specialty blowers, vacuums, and brushes to loosen unwanted elements from the supply, intake, and return ducts. At Gerard Plumbing and Heating, we also ensure that your air handler, fans, grilles, registers, motors, coils, and housings are also cleaned. Air ducts constantly collect undesirable particles such as dust, pet dander, bacteria, oven grease, allergens, bathroom particles, dirt and more.
At Gerard Plumbing and Heating, we approach air quality on two levels; duct cleaning and mechanical. Our mechanical options use filtration system and air purifiers such as the Honeywell Electronic Air Cleaner and iWave-R Air Purifier to automatically prevent pollutants from entering the atmosphere. Your furnace filter also asked as a line of defense against dust, dirt, and other unwanted pollutants. The duct cleaning process is a great step to clean out any substances that have already built us inside the ductwork.
Thermostats tell the heating and cooling system when a property needs to be heated or cooled. Without a properly functioning thermostat, you would not be able to regulate the temperature in the property. If you are looking to replace your thermostat, you have a lot of options now-a-days. You can use a simple, temperature control option all the way to a high tech, whole home integrated option. The price point is dependent on the features you want in your thermostat.
Natural gas companies use large wells and pumps to bring gas to the surface from thousands of feet below the earth. Gas mains then funnel the natural gas into populated areas and your gas utility company runs gas lines to homes via smaller gas pipes. The gas then connects to a gas meter which tells the utility company how much natural gas a property is using. From the gas meter, gas lines are redirected to locations within your home that require natural gas such as: furnaces, ovens, water heaters, clothes dryers, etc.
Hydronic heat is any heating system that uses hot water to warm a space. This includes systems that use radiators, under-floor tubing, and heat exchangers. There are three types of hydronic heating systems: baseboard, hydronic radiant floor, and hydro-air heating. The pricing to install, replace, or repair a hydronic heating system will vary based on the scope of work and the type of system. For a custom quote on your hydronic heating project, contact Gerard Plumbing and Heating. At Gerard, we price by the job and not by the hour.
When a hot water tap is turned on, cold water flows through the tankless hot water system. The water passes through pipes inside of the system that are heated electrically or by gas burners. Although the hot water won't run out, the flow rate might be a bit limited. Tankless water heaters normally deliver hot water around a rate of two (2) to five (5) gallons per minute. Electric models tend to not have as good of a flow rate as the gas versions. In water heaters that use a tank heater, the water inside of the tank is dispensed when it is called upon.
