To determine the percentage of asbestos fibers in a particular building material, a sample of the material must be properly collected by an Illinois-licensed Asbestos Inspector. Each sample must be documented on a chain-of-custody form, delivered to an accredited laboratory, and analyzed by the laboratory. The results are submitted to the inspector who interprets the results and sends the report to the customer. While Bluestone focuses on asbestos and mold removal (rather than testing), we can perform limited asbestos sampling (1-2 materials) during asbestos removal estimates as a convenience to clients.
Bluestone can respond quickly to your moisture intrusion or mold contamination issue. A Bluestone estimator can often be on-site within 24 hours of your call to assess the problem and suggest common-sense solutions. When flooding or other excess moisture conditions occur in a building, the most appropriate response is to clean-up and/or dry water-damaged building materials as soon as possible. Experts suggest responding to water damage within 24-48 hours. As recommended in the U.S. EPA manual entitled, "Mold Remediation in Schools and Commercial Buildings, " the building owner should fix the moisture intrusion problem, or the mold contamination may re-occur.
